I was lucky enough to see both the city and countryside of Florence. I only spent 4 nights here before heading to my next destination but there was something extremely nostalgic here. I often feel that when I’m in Italy, but something particularly in Florence made me feel like I was missing something. I felt like I was missing something but couldn’t even explain what it was.
I’ll start with the countryside because it absolutely blew my mind. I wanted to recreate my own little version of “Tuscany in the Sun”. I imagined myself in a long white linen dress, walking through acres of vineyards in the valley with the sun beaming. Well, to be honest, I’m not sure what I imagined or expected – I don’t really remember, but that’s actually how it played out. So there I was, fully immersed in nature with no one else, just me and a full glass of wine, no cell reception, and I started my afternoon walk with my black leather combat boots. I was free.
So you can catch a glimpse of the gorgeous sunset in the photos above, but the sunrise – that was unbelievable. If you know me, I’m not a morning person. But I set my alarm for 6:40AM, determined, as that’s when Google told me the sunrise would approximately start. What a gift. I had my own private patio on one of the highest points of the farm, so I could enjoy the incredible view in the comfort of my own privacy. It felt about 0 degrees so I brought out the duvet, made myself a nice cup of hot tea, and watched the sun rise in a perfect dream state.
And let’s not forget how my Airbnb looked like. I felt like I was walking into an old fairytale, or maybe just a different life. We had the fireplace running, and two delicious bottles of wine the first night.
Here are some photos from the Airbnb in the Florence city and the city itself:
Yes definitely was spoiled.
Feel free to PM me if you want any information on where I stayed or how to get around in the countryside. I stayed near the town of Chianti, and there are actually busses – although, to get to the larger farms like where I stayed, you would either need a car or taxi.
PS. Grazie Michele for your hospitality.
